Sweethearts for many years, they are happy together, but far away from their hometowns in Texas. They have been through a lot at their young age, including health problems more difficult than many people will ever face in their lives. I can't help but admire their courage and strength.

It's an understatement to say I was excited when Patrick told me he was going to propose during their session. I have never photographed a proposal before. I wanted everything to be perfect. That day I watched the weather like a hawk. In the midst of our serious drought it didn't seem fair that the weather said it would be raining during the time of our session. On my drive to Malibu I saw the bright sun with just a few wispy clouds and breathed a sign of relief. When I arrived and saw the tide was so high it nearly erased the beach area for us to walk on I was not happy, but I knew we could make it work. What followed was one of the most magical, beautiful sessions I've ever photographed, and I've been blessed with a lot of them.
I was completely honored to be there to witness the proposal. It made my heart sing. It made me so happy to do what I do. It was beautiful. This is a long post, but I had a hard time weeding out so many of the images. I'm so excited for them. I can't wait for when they come back to me in the years to come with their newborn baby. Family is everything.

Almost 6 years ago, in different states, in different lives, and circumstances they both went through a really difficult and dark time as their families split up. Their marriages ended and their hearts were broken. The years since have not been easy as they have been left to raise their children on their own.
A little over a year ago they found each other on the internet. When you have children and are in the dating world it's best to be cautious, and they both were. It soon became clear that they made each other happy. They balanced each other in so many ways. Early in the spring they were engaged, and this summer they were married. This was their engagement session at the beach. It was crazy with a capital C, but beautiful in its craziness.
