high school senior

Class of 2020

Hey beautiful! You are about to graduate from high school. It feels like a big deal because it IS a big deal. High School has consumed most of your time and energy for years. You’re leaving the protection of the home you’ve always lived in, and moving far away from your parents. That’s scary! It’s also exciting, and pretty darn cool.

My advice to you is to enjoy right now as much as you can. Soak up the time you have with your friends from high school, and make some fun memories these next few months. Don’t let the stress of the unknown get to you. If you don’t get into the university you had your heart set on, take some time to be sad, and then adjust your goals. Everything will be OK. It just means you weren’t meant to go there. There’s a better place for you.

Don’t forget that you’re young and have your whole life ahead of you. You’ll make mistakes, and that’s OK. You’ll learn so much more from making those mistakes than if did everything perfectly. Be careful, love yourself, and call home. Your mom and dad will miss you every single day.

The Milestones of Life

This post has two separate photo sessions for families experiencing big milestones in their lives. The first is a 1st Birthday, and the second is a family session done right before their oldest daughter went away to college. It’s amazing to me how both of them happen so fast, and they can both be emotional. I cried a lot more when my oldest daughter went away to college than on her first birthday, but they both felt monumental. Life goes by so quickly.

You have to enjoy the stage you’re in. You just have to! Stop doing that thing where tell yourself that you'll be happy once the kids are sleeping through the night, or once they start school, or when they move out. The reality is, you WILL miss what you have RIGHT NOW. You will wish you had enjoyed it so much more than you are. Life is messy, and hard, and painful, but it is also beautiful. Look for the beautiful while you’re going through the hard parts.

It's not too Early for Senior Portraits Class of 2020

Can you believe the class of 2020 is booking the senior portraits? Ugh, that makes me feel all kinds of old! 2020 sounds like such a futuristic date, but it’s almost here. I’m excited to photograph the seniors graduating next June. It’s not too early to book your session. In fact, here are the available dates for the rest of 2019. Click over there and book your session.

This senior portrait session has my heart. She’s gorgeous, and sweet, and has the best smile ever. I just loved hanging out with her at the beach that night. It was incredibly windy, and her mom was very concerned about her hair being too wind blown and crazy. I absolutely love how these all turned out, and you would never guess we were battling big winds in the process. This is a great example of a time when you should just relax and enjoy the moment. Don’t worry about the details you can’t control.
