Senior Portraits

Senior year - the most exciting, stressful, fun, difficult, and long years of your life. A big chapter of your life is ending, and a new chapter is beginning. Senior year starts with all the anticipation of figuring out where you’ll go next year. The waiting and hoping for college acceptance letters can be agonizing. Last year we did that with my daughter. She struggled with not knowing where she would be going in a few months. Then there was the decision of where she should go. She had two options, and it took her a very very long time to decide.

Senior portraits shouldn’t be stressful. They should be the fun part of your year. It’s a time to show who you are right now in your life. Choose your location, bring 2-3 of your favorite outfits. I encourage you to think outside the box. Don’t just do what everyone does. Think of a location that means a lot to you, or an outfit that has special meaning. Wear the uniform you wear for your sport, or include your favorite animal (as you’ll see below). Don’t be afraid to make it all about you. This is the time in your life when you get to do that! Enjoy it. Give me a call. We can plan together, and as you’ll see below, you can bring your whole family.

The Center of Our Lives - Family

My job might seem frivolous, or unnecessary in a busy world of so much to do. Getting your family portraits is so easy to put off. There are a million things you need to take care of all the time, and it just seems like a hassle. I get it! Life is crazy. Life is hard. Managing kids, a job, school, your home, and everything else is exhausting! At the end of the day what makes you the most happy? I venture to guess most of you will say your family.

Why do you work? - to provide for your family. Why do you sign your kids up for all those activities? - because you love your family, and you want them to be happy. Why do you go nuts keeping your home clean and organized and beautiful? - for your family. They are the center of our lives and the reason for everything we do. Their faces make you the happiest. Those kids will grow up, their voices will deepen, their speech will mature, and you'll wish you had held on just a little bit longer. I promise it's worth it to get those family portraits. Even if you don't hire me, ask someone to take pictures of your family. You'll never regret the pictures you have, but you will certainly regret what you missed.

I have a spot open for mini session THIS Saturday at 4:30. Let me know if you want to snag it.

A little bit of crazy, and a whole bunch of Love.

Sweet Brooke and her family only lived locally for a short time. I got to know her a little bit and immediately recognized that she had a heart of gold. I love how devoted she is to her family. Those little kids and her husband have 100% of her attention and love.

Our session before she moved away again was a little bit crazy. The kids were full to the brim with energy and excitement. They are not ones to sit still and pose, which is fine with me. Sweet little J stole my hear when she wanted to hold my hand the whole time (which can make taking pictures very difficult). There is nothing sweeter to me than a family playing together and happy.

Twelve Years Old

This girl is just excited about life. She's happy to go anywhere, meet anyone, and just smile. She She still snuggles close to me when we have the chance, and loves to talk my ear off. She has such enthusiasm for life! I admire that so much.

She turned 12 recently. Her teen years are fast approaching - too fast. I'm not ready to let go of my little girl. I used to think all those moms who whined and complained about their kids growing up too fast were lying, but it really is hard to let go. It's hard to move on to a new stage when you're perfectly happy where you are. No matter how old she is, I love watching her grow. I love all of her, and I'm so happy to be her mom.

Good Vibes

I love it when the parents of the families I'm photographing are as relaxed as possible, and just allow their children to be themselves, in a fun playful way. Life with little kids is chaos, and often unpredictable. Photo sessions with little ones is the same, if not more so when the parents are anxious and worried about their children's behavior.

The ONLY thing I have found that reduces the tension and stress is if the children are allowed to have fun, and move around. This is why I love outdoor sessions so much. Children have room to roam and be free from constraints. They are willing to smile for a few if they can run and move for the other ones. If the experience is fun and joyful they will show you their genuine smiles, and isn't that what you want?
