Why I Love Being a Newborn Photographer
Why be a newborn photographer?
It’s as simple as this: I love babies. I had four of my own and absolutely loved it, even though it was the hardest thing I ever did. Now I can still hold newborns on a regular basis without having to care for them 24/7. I honestly think I'm the luckiest girl ever to do what I do. I will never tire of the feeling of a tiny baby in my arms. The adorable grunts, squeaks, and murmurs they make, their adorable facial expressions, that sweet baby smell, their yawns, and big stretches all have my heart. I can’t get enough of them.
Capturing Priceless Moments
It may be cheesy and sappy to say it, but it’s true. Your baby will never grow and change as much as they do that first year. You will never get that time back, but photographs freeze it forever. I love looking back at my babies as newborns. I can still see glimpses of who they are now, but marvel at how tiny they were.
Spreading Happiness
I love to think that I’m delivering pure joy. These images remind people of love, hope, and new beginnings. I’m creating heirlooms that parents will cherish forever. These are the treasures people will grab to save in an emergency because they become priceless. The joy that I see on my client’s faces when they see their images is incredibly fulfilling.
The Creative Challenge
Posing newborns, selecting props, and designing setups requires both technical skill and artistry. Every session is a chance to create something beautiful and unique. The tiny details (fingers, toes, lashes), and dreamy lighting make newborn photography visually enchanting. I love that I get to create art for the families I work with.
Building Connections
I often work closely with new parents during a vulnerable, emotional time. Being part of their journey—whether it’s their first child or a growing family—creates meaningful bonds. It makes me so happy to see families year after year. Some of the first newborns I photographed are teenagers now. It is so rewarding to see them grow, and get to know their families.
